Mobile phone shipments in July reached 24.204 million units, up 30.5% year-on-year
On the 28th, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in July 2024. In July, the domestic mobile phone shipments in China were 24.204 million, a year-on-year increase of 30.5%. Among them, 5G mobile phones were 20.654 million, a year-on-year increase of 37.2%, accounting for 85.3% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.
Data show that from January to July, the domestic mobile phone shipments in China were 171 million, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%, of which 5G mobile phones were 145 million, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%, accounting for 84.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.
In July, the number of newly launched mobile phone models in the domestic market in China decreased. In that month, 29 new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year decrease of 17.1%, of which 13 were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 27.8%, accounting for 44.8% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period. From January to July, 234 new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%, of which 122 were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%, accounting for 52.1% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.
Shipments of domestic brand mobile phones in China have increased significantly. In July, the shipments of domestic brand mobile phones were 21.827 million units, a year-on-year increase of 34.4%, accounting for 90.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 28 new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7%, accounting for 96.6% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period. From January to July, the shipments of domestic brand mobile phones were 145 million units, a year-on-year increase of 19.9%, accounting for 84.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 220 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 0.5%, accounting for 94.0% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.
