Taiwan has become the second largest source of foreign investment actually used in Jiangxi

Jiangxi is the inland province closest to Taiwan. In order to give full play to this location advantage, Jiangxi has made every effort to seize the opportunity of Taiwanese businessmen’s investment in the mainland to transfer to the central and western regions. On August 21, the reporter learned from the press conference of the 19th Jiangxi-Taiwan (Lushan) Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Conference that Jiangxi will establish 58 new Taiwanese-funded enterprises in 2023, with actual utilization of Taiwanese investment of US$41.97 million, an increase of 65.8%. Taiwan has become the second largest source of foreign investment actually used in Jiangxi.

According to Deng Haiping, the second-level inspector of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Commerce, Jiangxi has always regarded Taiwan as a key area for attracting foreign investment and has formulated a series of policies and measures. Special policies have been introduced at the provincial level to support the development of Taiwanese enterprises, mainly focusing on accelerating the construction of the Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone (Jiangxi), and providing strong support to Taiwanese-funded enterprises in terms of fiscal and tax incentives, scientific and technological innovation, and land use guarantees.

At the beginning of each year, Jiangxi will formulate a provincial investment promotion work plan, including Taiwan-related, to comprehensively coordinate investment promotion for Taiwan and actively promote Taiwanese enterprises and businessmen to invest and start businesses in Jiangxi. In addition, Jiangxi has also established a joint investment promotion mechanism between the province and the city, with provincial leaders leading a team to visit Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises to discuss and promote project cooperation in depth. In particular, each Jiangxi-Taiwan Conference and important economic and trade activities held in coastal areas every year are led and dispatched by the main responsible comrades of the provincial party committee or provincial government.

Focusing on the “1269” action plan for key industrial chains, Jiangxi has carried out targeted and listed precision investment promotion, sorted out 412 target enterprises for investment promotion, including well-known Taiwanese companies such as Yageo Group and Jiuhao Precision Ceramics, and accurately connected with key Taiwanese enterprises. In addition, Jiangxi has done a good job in special investment promotion, business investment promotion, and fund investment promotion. Jiangxi has held 18 consecutive Jiangxi-Taiwan Conferences, promoting the signing and implementation of a number of high-quality Taiwanese-funded projects such as hardware precision structural parts with a total investment of US$500 million.

Jiangxi has vigorously optimized services for Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises. For example, we have implemented “point-to-point” precise services, improved the working mechanism for foreign investment complaints, held roundtable meetings for foreign-invested enterprises regularly, unblocked regular communication channels, fully utilized the role of the provincial and municipal foreign investment special team mechanism, and coordinated to solve the difficulties faced by Taiwanese enterprises in their development. Deng said that these measures have effectively improved Jiangxi’s service level and further strengthened the confidence and determination of Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises to invest in Jiangxi.

“We have maintained close contact with important Taiwanese industrial and commercial enterprise groups and Taiwanese associations in Dongguan, Kunshan, etc., fully utilized the advantages of the gathering of high-quality enterprises in Taiwanese associations, and recommended key Taiwanese businessmen to Jiangxi for inspection and implementation of projects. Investing in Jiangxi has formed a good reputation in the Taiwanese business circle.” Deng Haiping said.
