Japan decides to relax some of the conditions for issuing visas to Chinese citizens
According to a report by Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun on December 6, the Japanese government has decided to relax some of the conditions for issuing visas to Chinese citizens.
The report said that Japan will expand the scope of “multiple-entry” visas that allow multiple trips to Japan within a certain period of time. Several relevant people in the Japanese government confirmed the news.
The report said that multiple-entry visas are for “business purpose visas” or for “cultural people and intellectuals”, and the validity period is divided into 1 to 10 years. Regarding the 10-year visa, spouses and children of those who meet the requirements can currently obtain visas, and in the future, it is considered to expand the scope of issuance to other family members besides spouses and children.
The report also said that Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya is coordinating a visit to China this year, and it is expected that measures to relax visa conditions will be proposed during talks with China.
The report finally said that the Chinese government resumed the visa-free policy for Japanese citizens for short-term visits to China in November. China advocates “reciprocity” and requires Japan to simplify entry procedures as well.
