China-Honduras Free Trade Agreement Negotiations Begin

On July 4, China Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Honduran Minister of Economic Development Cerrato announced the launch of China-Honduras Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations by video on behalf of their respective governments.

  On March 26, 2023, China established diplomatic relations with Honduras, and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries entered a new stage of development. on June 12, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Castro of Honduras, who was visiting China, and the two sides issued a joint statement announcing a consensus on negotiating a free trade agreement between the two countries.

  The launch of the FTA negotiations between China and Honduras will be conducive to deepening practical cooperation between the two countries in the economic and trade fields, providing a boost to further enhance the quality and level of bilateral trade and strengthen investment and cooperation in various fields.
