China’s registered business entities will reach 184 million by 2023

The reporter learned from the “Promoting High-quality Development” series of thematic press conferences held by the Information Office of the State Council of China on August 16 that in 2023, the number of registered business entities nationwide reached 184 million, the enterprise activity increased by 0.69% year-on-year, and the average life of exited enterprises was extended by 0.64 years.

Pu Chun, deputy director of the State Administration for Market Regulation and director of the National Certification and Accreditation Administration, introduced at the meeting that in recent years, the market supervision department has focused on improving the unified market supervision system and rules, and has successively promoted the promulgation and implementation of the Market Entity Registration Management Regulations, the newly revised Company Law and its supporting rules, revised the Anti-Monopoly Law, promoted the promulgation of the Fair Competition Review Regulations, promoted the revision of the Interim Regulations on Enterprise Information Disclosure, and issued the Interim Provisions on Anti-unfair Competition on the Internet and other systems, which have provided strong support for the continuous improvement of the basic system of the market economy.

At the same time, the market supervision department has focused on stimulating the endogenous motivation and innovation vitality of various business entities, established and improved the quality evaluation index system for business entity development, issued 22 measures for market supervision departments to promote the development of private enterprises, promoted the efficient handling of “one thing” such as enterprise cancellation, and accurately and effectively supported the development of individual industrial and commercial households.
