Zhongan Online and Zhongan News Client reported that on September 3, the 75th Executive Council of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage was held in Sydney, Australia. The 2024 (11th batch) World Heritage List of Irrigation Projects was announced at the meeting, and Huangshan Huizhou Dam was successfully selected. The reporter learned from the Anhui Provincial Department of Water Resources that Huangshan Huizhou Dam has become the third world irrigation project heritage in our province.

The main section of Huizhou Dam is located in Xixinan Town, Huizhou District. It is a core project with Dam as the core project. The construction includes mountain ponds, canal water outlets, water streets, and wells to form a natural, sophisticated and perfect water conservancy and irrigation engineering system. In the basin, the Erba Reservoir and the North-South Main Canal were built in the upper reaches, and there are four canals, Chang Dam, Tiaolong Dam, Lei Dam, and Lv Dam, in the middle and lower reaches, and two small reservoirs, Qiukeng and Liaokeng, directly irrigate nearly 10,000 acres of fertile land along the banks of Fengle River in the central and eastern parts of the town.

Huizhou Jieba is not only a masterpiece of water conservancy engineering, but also an important part of Huizhou culture, witnessing the historical changes and cultural heritage of the Huizhou area. At present, Huizhou District of Huangshan City has built a district-level Huizhou Jieba Irrigation Project Heritage Exhibition Hall and Shiqiao Water Culture Park as an important base for irrigation heritage protection, water culture display, and water situation education and dissemination. At the same time, more than 10 million yuan was invested in repairing and reinforcing the ancient irrigation projects such as Lvjie and Tiaolongjie that were severely damaged by water, in accordance with the model of repairing the old as it was and injecting the historical texture of water culture, so that Huizhou Jieba can be inherited and used in protection.
