The first China Xinjiang Folk Art Festival opens
The first China Xinjiang Folk Art Season opened in Urumqi on the evening of the 20th. This event brought a colorful “cultural feast” to the public through the selection, performance and tour of folk art programs.
On that day, 47 folk art teams and about 1,800 folk art actors from some provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps performed in the Urumqi Cultural Center. Guangdong lion dance, Henan Shaolin martial arts, Xinjiang “Dawazi” and other wonderful performances won applause from the audience.
Li Yongming, an actor from the Jingpo National Cultural Troupe of Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, said that he was very happy to participate in this event in Xinjiang. Folk art workers from all over the country gathered together to show and communicate like family members, and the atmosphere was very warm.
It is reported that the first China Xinjiang Folk Art Season includes a series of activities such as the selection of Xinjiang folk art programs, the performance of national folk art programs and excellent stage art repertoires, and the interactive experience of “Let’s Dance Xinjiang Dance Together”, which will continue until 2025.
From August 21 to 30, the delegations of the opening ceremony parade will organize different program combinations and perform 58 free performances in Urumqi, Changji and other places.
The Xinjiang Folk Art Festival is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and is held every two years.
